Chrome-steel samovar

Chrome-steel samovar

For more than 250 years, the samovar has occupied an honored place in Russian homes. Not only the centerpiece of the table but a prized family heirloom as well. Keeping water hot all day (and often, all night, too) so it could be added to the teapot to make a piping hot cup of tea, anytime. Most were produced in Tula, the Russian samovar capital. Early samovars, from the Russian "sam" (self) and "varit" (to boil), were made of brass or copper and heated by burning charcoal or wood. Modern samovars are made from highly polished chrome steel or decorated with colorful enameling. Ours are from the famous Tula factory, producers of fine samovars since 1745. Sure to become an heirloom for the next generation. Chrome-steel, wood/charcoal burning, 4 litres, 16" high.
